Blog #1 Personal Thesis

Please write a thesis and post it in the comment section. Please write it before you look at everyone else's thesis.Create the thesis for the following question:To what extent, and in what ways has being a student at Roosevelt High School affected you? (Yes, some of you are new but focus on your high school career in general)

Many questions can be answered by considering the political, economic, religious, social, intellectual, and artistic factors related to the question.

Political - In most areas of life, there is some sort of leadership/government entity that allows things to function effectively. Imagine class without me there???? When you examine your question, consider the political effects. For example, does Renaissance humanism have a political effect. I think you could argue that it does when you consider the concept of civic humanism/purpose of education.

Economic - $$$ is a huge motivator, and is often a necessity. Are jobs effected, whole nation's economies, are people in specialized fields affected??? For example does Renaissance humanism have an economic effect. I think you could argue that it does because an emphasis on studying antiquities and copying the past leads to artists who create works of art, and it changes the role of the artist in society.

Religious - Religious beliefs are a large part of life for many people. People turn to religion to understand the world in which they live. Religious beliefs permeate through society and have an effect on laws, education....etc.. For example, does Renaissance humanism have an effect on religious thought? you bet. From the sacred to the secular.

Social - How do people form themselves into groups. How do we organize ourselves. Look at the groups that hang out at lunch? Was there a social effect of Renaissance humanism?

Intellectual - Intellectuals spend their time thinking about the big picture. Are there new ideas? are there justifications for certain actions? Do intellectuals inspire leaders? Usually intellectual ideas are a bridge between the political, religious, economic, and social.

Artistic - How do we express ourselves? What does that say about society?

My point is that many of your thesis statements can discuss these different areas of human life. I think you could add technological, but it does not fit the acronym so just put technological under intellectual.

: )Hope this helps.

Being a student at Roosevelt has affected me in the ways of being artistic. I find myself expressing myself through my abilities rather than my desires. I affects me to the extent of my intellectual values and makes me think more thoroughly rather than point by point. However, being a high school student going to a public school due to my novelty is what this is primarily based on.

Eleanor Roosevelt High School and being a student here has affected me socially. I find that I am still outgoing but I do not introduce myself unless required to. I have become more reserved and shy. Being a high schooler has changed my sociability and not for the better.

So far throughtout my High School career at Eleanor Roosevelt I have learned many new things. Things I thought that I would never learn, Such as easier more fun ways to do things and being a better person. High school has taught me to be more social and outgoing, and is really fun. When i entered high school I thought that it was going to be boring and strict but i was proved otherwise.

Being a student at Eleanor Roosevelt has changed my perception of life as an intellectual. Since attending Roosevelt one of the things that I have noticed is that I am no longer seen as teenager but rather as a black man. I have been singled out by the administration twice. I applied at 25 stores and restaurants in Eastvale and didn't receive one phone call. When i walk through parking lots people stare at me and glance at what's in my hands. Going to ERHS and living in Eastvale has made me less naive and more aware of my surroundings.

Being a student at Roosevelt High School has affected me in a dramatic way intellectually, thus making me think about the world around me in a new light. Which in turn help me choose a career I would be interested in perusing. Without the help of my past and current teacher I might not have made this choose and the way they challenge the way I think.

Being a student at ERHS has affected me in the ways of socializing and intellectually. It has affected me in the ways of socializing because I have learned that the people you hang out during high school affect your life and its decisions now more than ever. Which has made me decide that the only way I could do geart in school and live up to my full potintial was by hanging out with the right people. And that the only way to have fun too was just by being yourself and not to change for others. The way this school has affected me intellectually was just by the way of my thinking. My honors and AP classes allow me to think more deeply than before

Politicaly I am forced to go to school, if there wasnt humanism in the renaissance I might be learning about religion in stead. I would probbibly not have the choice to choose my classes either.
It's against my religion to go to school jk jk, but because the renaissance was an era when people started to speack out, and they started to think for themselves, if something goes against my religiouse beliefs i have the freedom to stand up for what I believe.
Artistically? you'd have to be blind not to see all of the tallent that ERHS has, besides all of the drawing artists, we have singers, actors (my favorite), band, techies, computer genius', and all of the people who are involved in sports. without the renaissance though people may not have had the oppertuneity to realize there FULL potential.

Being a student at EHRS has affected me poltically because I have learned that I cannot function properly or do what I have to do without someone tellinng me WHAT EXACTLY to do. Also going to this high school has made me consider what I want to do in life as a career, it has helped me think about things that would be a great career for me and pay the best!!! Religiously I don't think high school has affected me because I really don't care what some people's backgrounds are. I mean that in a good way, as long as they are kndhearted people. ERHS has affected me intellectually by helping me realize that there is more than one way to look at a situation. Also that there are deeper ways of thinking. Artistically high school has help me express myself in the way I write, the way I dress, and the way I talk and think. Most importantly it has help me be myself which is outgoing and loud.

During my time as a student at Roosevelt High School, I have been affected in ways beyond my basic knowledge. I did not think much of my journey from middle school to high school nor did I think that there will be much of an affect, though I was proven wrong. I have become more independent, politically, realizing that authority (the teachers) does not guide you through every move. Also, intellectually, there is more to life than just memorizing information or doing work, but to understand the bigger picture. Socially, I have lost my friends from the past which led to the making of several different new friends. Artistic wise, I have kept the same way of expressing myself. Though for the Economics and Religious aspects my life has not changed very much. Overall, as a student here at Roosevelt High School, my life has changed, changed for the better.

High School is the best time of your life, and it's affective in several ways, such as religiously, socially, intellectually, and artistically. High school has affected me religiously by ,making me stronger in my beliefs, there are many different beliefs on a campus, making it to where if you don’t stand up you’ll be conformed. Socially, isn’t really up to high school, it’s what you do there. If you just hide and decide to be shy, then you won’t be social, you don’t have to be in the ”popular” group to have fun, and I don’t see any group as the “popular” group, all you need is some good friends and to be involved and it'll be fine. My classes this year have affected me intellectually, they've taught me different ways of thinking, problem-solving, and helped me with time-management. Finally, artistically, high school is the time to express yourself, and it's taught me to express myself in any way, and to not care what people think. High School has affected me, in a good way.

Being a student at ERHS has definitely made an impact on my life for several reasons. I used to think of school as just hang out only with babysitters, but when I entered ERHS, I couldn't just sit through a class and not learn something or run for help anymore. Politically, I learned to be independent and intellectually, my teachers taught me that there was no point in answering a question unless i knew why. I started learning to think outside the box. Throughout the schoolyear, i have also realized all the opportunities available to me, until it came to money. Even getting a job to raise money for myself is harder than it seems. Through that experience, economically, i have become aware. But the one huge factor that affected me was religion. Being exposed to the many different religions and cultures when I was originally used to everyone around being catholic, was weird at first. I wasn't used to it. With classes of diverse and awesome people, I learned about other points of view and have also strengthened my belief in my own religion. I like this school socially because if you have a good attitude, no one even cares what you are. I don't even see any cliques or the "popular" group as shown on tv. Socially, I have become more outgoing. Last, I have grown artistically. Having these experiences helped my creativity and even expand all my artistic interests.

As a student at ERHS, I have the privilege of being at one of the top schools in Corona. As you may have already known, this will help me gain an "edge" over my competitors when i apply for college. This school is helping me mostly in the education are, 2 hour blocks creates more time for a student to take in what is taught for two days in 1 day. I feel that if I have the capability to succeed here I can succeed wherever i go.

Attending Eleanor Roosevelt has been a great experience. I have learned that you can’t just rely on your teachings for everything you need to put in the effort and you will learn so much more. Socially being a new school there aren’t really any cliques which is good. I have made many life long friends that I know I can count on. Going to public schools all my life I have been around different religions but last year was when I really started thinking about my religion and becoming interested in it thanks to some of my friends. Being in high school you need to be independent and believe in yourself and be responsible if you want to succeed in high school. I have many friends who are very artistic so I love seeing what they do and even trying my own drawings or whatever it may be. It can be expensive to be in high school whether it is being in sports, joining in school activities or just buying school supplies but it’s worth it. I know I will always remember my high school years and learn a lot from them.

Being a student at ERHS has really made and impact on my life. Its had its political, intellectual, and social impacts. Politically its made a change for me because it's helped me become more independent, and not relying so much on the teachers and administration to keep me going. High School, I've learned, is basically ran by the students themselves. Your education and future is in your own hands. Intellectually it's helped me manage time much better, and also problem solve differently. There is much more to learn beyond just the basics we know. The biggest impact it's made though has been socially. True friends stay with you throughtout highschool is something I've concluded. It's also helped me choose friends I know will always support me and accept me for who i am and the decisions i make throughtout my highschool career. This is basically the turning point in life.

Being a student in high school has greatly affected me. It is to the extent that, school is probably the most important factor in my life. it has accustomed me to like structure and order. in this failing economy, and flawed government system, money is becoming a greater issue. Money is a critical component of a students road to success. As a student in a school of mixed cultures, races, languages, religions, and life situations, i have come to embrace my values, expectations, and morals. Religion has had a bigger impact on me as a high school student than ever before. It influences what i value and what i consider, right or wrong, appropriate or inappropriate, ethical or unethical. As a high school student, i tend to hang out with people that hold the same values, interests, and ambitions as me. High school as also broadened perspectives over different issues. I believe high school teachers tend to be more open and direct with students about important affairs. i have learned much through teacher-student dialogue. i have also found that high school is a more liberal place to express oneself. I believe it is here, in high school, where some people may finally determine what he/she wants from life. High school has personally influenced and affected me to the greatest extent.

As one of MANY students here at Eleanor Roosevelt i feel this school has affect me in many different ways politically, Religiously,Socially, intellectually, and also artistically. Though high school has its ups and downs in the end it all comes down to you politically speaking, your teachers can only do so much. They can stand in front of the class for hours trying to teach you but it is your own decision as to whether you listen. If you are religious high school is the place to stand your ground. With so many different beliefs you just gotta stick to what you know. High school also has definently affected me socially. Being in high school people are alot more mature so it is easier to put your trust in new friends and know they wont break it. Intellectually speaking high school is THEE place to show your ideas and turn then in to reality. Lastly high school has really affected me artistically. Its very easy to express my self and my opinions now at the time where us high schoolers are trying to show who we are. So in the end high school has def. affected me in a good way.
